How I work - The start of your journey

Your wedding dress or special occasion dress may not have been made to measure, therefore most dresses will need some alterations, and this is where I step in!

With over 35 years of experience in dress making I will advise you as to what needs doing and make any suggestions.

Don’t know what to expect?

You may not have had a dress fitting before, I’m sure you will feel anxious to get started, so from the day you first contact me to the day you wear your dress I will work with you, ensuring that I understand your finished expectations.

Your initial fitting will be to see the dress on you and discuss the work that needs to be carried out, I will discuss the alterations required and book in any further fitting appointments (if necessary). At this appointment an approximate cost for the work will be agreed.

I may ask lots of questions ensuring I understand and you feel confident and happy with my suggestions. At this point it is important to be honest as it makes alterations easier than having to change them at a later date.

Pre-booking your appointments is a must to ensure you receive the best possible service and advice, I recommend you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Hi I'm Bernie-

I have been passionate about sewing since I was a teenager, following on in my mother's footsteps.

My professional career started at sixteen, working throughout the garment manufacturing industry, working my way to the highest level of garment technology.

This led to me starting my own business and opening my first shop in Bishop Auckland and now from my sewing room, offering a bespoke and quality service.

You can count on me for quality and professional alterations.
